It feels incredibly easy to focus on ourselves during this pandemic. Our own families, our children, our grandchildren, our individual health. Especially when the virus is very much still here – and on the rise – in Florida. The immediate reaction for many is panic, and correspondingly, protect. Protect your own.
But I implore us all to think beyond ourselves and remember that we are a community. We are in this epic COVID-19 moment together, and there are many among us who desperately need our help. From food insecurity to lack of resources, these issues are impacting our neighbors in South Florida. Though I have my own fears that keep me up at night, these notions resonate louder and stronger.
The #SapoznikCares Initiative
For this reason, I started the #SapoznikCares initiative, to ensure that the most vulnerable members of our communities are not forgotten. It is imperative that we not only take care of ourselves, but that we also extend a helping hand to those who urgently need it.
We’ve sponsored meals, donated supplies, and lent our best efforts to a cross-section of charities throughout Broward and Miami Dade counties. These organizations: United Way of Broward County, JAFCO, ARC of Broward County, Overtown Youth Center, the Kosher Food Bank, and the Broward Homeless Initiative Partnership, do incredibly meaningful work, and we simply want to assure they can keep doing it.
I am so proud of my colleagues at Sapoznik Insurance for their time and efforts concerning this initiative. I pledge to continue to care, not just for my own family, but for all of us. There is so much more work to do, but we want to let our community know that “we got you.”
Our Community is Need
Our community needs us now more than ever. That is why we take a hands-on approach to help those in need. I urge you to seek out those in your community that are struggling, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
